Boarding
There are 28 kennels, 12 in one block for smaller dogs and 16 in a seperate block for larger dogs. Each kennel has indivdual heating and access to their own outdoor run. Due to the small number of dogs boarded compared to most other local kennels, Five Acres are very proud to be able to offer the individual care important for your dogs well being.
Our price guide is listed on the right-hand side of all pages throughout this website.
Advice for first time boarders.
Creature Comforts
All our kennels are fully heated and a bed, blanket and toys can be provided. However you are welcome to bring your own bedding and toys for comfort and familarity.
We will always try to ensure your dogs belongings are not removed from the kennel however bedding may need to be removed to be cleaned, dried or aired. Dogs may chew or soil bedding if they become anxious, bored or just decide they want to play with it! Therefore it is best not to bring they’re best bedding.
Dogs sometimes like to take their toys out into the grass paddocks with them to play. We always try to ensure the toy goes back in with them but occasionally they may get lost and therfore are left at your own risk.
Exercise
Each dog is individually exercised three times a day in one of our four secured grass paddocks. Meaning that they can experience free off lead exercise first thing in the morning, again during the afternoon and then last thing in the evening.
If you are boarding more than one dog they can of course be exercised together. Or if your dog enjoys playing with other dogs we will try to pair them up with a play-mate but only if asked to by the owners and when it is beneficial to both dogs.
Extra walks
You may also wish to treat your dog to an additional on-lead walk around the village. Some people like to have their dog walked once or twice during their stay as a break from the kennels or others like to book one-a-day.
They cost an additional £4.50 and last between 30-45 minutes. They are however very popular and are subject to availability. The cost is the same if you have more than one dog as long as they can be walked easily together.
The walks are usually limited to the hours of between 12- 3 pm and are weather permitting. We will not walk your dog if we feel we are unable to maintain control for example due to heavy pulling.
You are welcome to arrange for your dog to be walked by family/friends or a dog walker but dogs must be collected and dropped back off during our opening hours only and dogs will not be covered under our insurance once removed from the kennel.
Meals
The dogs are normally fed in the evenings between 4-5pm, however morning meals can also be provided.
Both tinned and dried quality food are available, which is provided at no additional cost. However if your dog requires a special diet or you prefer to bring along your dogs own food please do so. (sorry no discount if provided).
Medications and supplements can be administered if required however please mention this when making the booking.
You are also welcome to bring any treats that you wish your dog to be given.
Insurance
All dogs are covered under our insurance policy for any veterinary treatment should it be required during their stay. Existing medical conditions excluded.
Inoculations
All dogs must be up to date with their yearly vaccinations and certificates must accompany them on arrival at the kennels.
A kennel cough inoculation is advisable but not mandatory as we are a small kennels and therefore the risk is relatively low. If you have your dog inoculated it is compulsory to allow a week to ten days before boarding.
